More and more digital nomads are working without depending on a fixed location thanks to technology. Everyone can do it, even without a degree. All you need is to put in time and effort!
This new way of working offers incredible freedom to live unique experiences and meet exciting people while earning a living. If you have perseverance, you can start on this exciting opportunity and change your way of working forever!
Here are some interesting websites that may inspire you:
- Preply: a language teaching platform where some tutors start by offering courses at a low price to gain experience, before eventually charging over $20-$30 US dollars per hour. This allows them to travel indefinitely without worrying about money.
- Codecademy: personally, I learned to program and create websites with this tool. It's interactive and a lot of fun. I call it the Duolingo of programming.
- Workaway allows you to travel for free, make friends, be accommodated, fed, and even paid to work in hostels while discovering new cultures. See also WorldPackers.
As for me, I am the lead web developer for the Ecohome website, which promotes sustainable housing around the world. I also have my own web development business. As I have always wanted to be in control of my schedule, to participate in inspiring projects, while working everywhere, I found the solution in the field of computer science! I take 2-3 days off per week to explore the country I'm in. Otherwise, I work from my hotel room, a café, or even the beach while enjoying the local life!
You don't have to learn to code, as I understand it doesn't interest everyone, but today there are many opportunities to work remotely and you will surely find something that suits your interests.
Thank you very much for your interest and good luck! And be sure to let us know how you get on in the future…
