Vincent Lagrange

Hi! I'm Vincent, a proud Québécois exploring the world. I'm a high school teacher who has worked in Vancouver and Cairo, and I now live in Beijing. In my twenties, I traveled extensively as a backpacker across Europe and Latin America. I'm passionate about the diversity of human cultures, from ways of life and languages to food. That's what I hope to share with you through my articles.

Born in Saint-Jérôme in 1982, Vincent Lagrange spent his childhood in L'Annonciation, now Rivière-Rouge, his teenage years in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, and his early adult life in Montreal. He has a strong academic background, holding a college diploma in Arts and Literature from Cégep Édouard-Montpetit, a first bachelor's degree in Political Science from UQAM, a second bachelor's degree in Education from the University of British Columbia, as well as a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language.

A passionate traveler, he discovered Europe between the ages of 21 and 23 as a backpacker, traveling by train and moving from one youth hostel to another. From 25 to 26, he spent a full year in Paraguay, returning again the following year at 27. There, he worked in part as a volunteer for the NGO Un Techo Para Mi País. At 28, he held a night job in a restaurant in Iqaluit, Nunavut. At 29, he returned to South America and spent four months in Peru.

From 2012 to 2014, he lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where he taught in francophone schools. From 2015 to 2018, he lived in Vancouver, where he studied education at UBC and then worked for a year in a high school as a French and Spanish teacher. In 2018, he taught at a high school in Cairo, Egypt. In 2019, he taught in Qingdao, China, and since 2020 he has been based in Beijing, where he continues his teaching career.

Vincent has embraced a truly nomadic life as an educator. His passion for culture leads him to explore museums, historical sites, and local flavors, enriching each journey with authentic experiences. Curious and creative by nature, he cultivates a broad general knowledge, and his mind is constantly filled with projects in film, writing, photography, and music. He has just completed a book tracing the origins of poutine and is currently seeking a publisher.
